Coulisse CAL Part 7

Abbreviations

This pattern uses English terminology:
St/sts=stitch/stitches
Dc=double crochet (US single crochet)
Ch=chain
Slst=slip stitch
Tr=treble crochet (US double crochet)
Fp=front post
Bp=back post
Yrh=yarn round hook

Equipment (for all parts of the CAL)

  • DROPS Fabel (75% wool, 25% polyamide, 50g/205m): 3 balls of Blue Sea Print (or Pink Dream Printor Guacamole Print depending on the colourway you choose); 2 balls of Rust(or Grey Blueor Mustard) and 2 balls of Turquoise (or Pinkor Apple Green); and a small amount of Off white (for all three colourways).
  • 3mm crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Darning 

Instructions

BASE
With yarn  B,  ch21.
Dc in second ch from hook and in each ch to last ch, 3dc in last ch, turn to work up other side of foundation ch, dc in each st of foundation ch to last ch, 2dc in last ch. sl st into each of next 2 dc to make the second of these dc the new start of the round, ch1 and work the first st of the next round in the same st as the last sl st.

*Dc in next 18 dc, 2dc in each of next 3dc*; repeat from *to* once more.

*Dc in next 18 dc, 2dc in each of next 6dc*; repeat from *to* once more.
(60  dc)

*Dc in next 18 dc (dc in next st, 2dc in next st) 6 times*; repeat from *to* once more.

Dc in each st around.
*Dc in next 18 dc, (dc in each of next 2 sts, 2dc in next st) 6 times*; repeat from *to* once more.

Dc in each st around.

Dc in each st around, sl st in first st.

Attach the base to the bag using the zipper method (see part 6).


DRAWSTRINGS (Make 2)
Ch285, sl st in first st to form a ring, dc, ch2, tr in each st around, sl st in first st.
Fasten off.

CASING FOR DRAWSTRING 
Fold the bag in half and join yarn C into the top right hand st of the front of the bag.

Round 1: *Dc in first 17 sts, dc in top  sl st of zipper join* repeat from*to* 9 more times, sl st in first st.
(180 dc)

Round 2: Ch1, bl dc in each st around, sl st in first st.
(180 bl dc)

Rounds 3-6: Ch1, dc in each st around, sl st in first st.
(180 dc)
Fasten off.

Join yarn C in 8th front loop missed of round 1.

Row 7: Ch1,  fl dc in each of next 76 sts (leave remaining sts unworked). Turn.
(76  fl dc)

Rows 8-11: Ch1, dc in each of next 76 sts.
(76 dc)
Fasten off.

Rejoin yarn C in 15th unworked front loop of round 1.

Row 12: Fl dc in each of next 76 sts. Turn.

Rows 13-16: Ch1, dc in each of next 76 sts. Turn.

Do not fasten off.

Hold both  drawstrings together and place them in the ‘valley’ created by the 2 flaps worked in the front and back loops of round 1.

Join yarn C in first st of round 6.

Ch1, dc in each of next 7 sts, (insert your hook through first st of row 11 and next st of round 6, yrh, pull up a loop, yrh, finish as for dc) 76 times, dc in each of next 14 sts, (insert your hook through first st of row 16 and next st of round 6, yrh, pull up a loop, yrh, finish as for dc) 76 times, dc in each of next 7 sts, sl st in first st.

Fasten off.

STRAP

Join yarn B around 13th post of top rightmost square.

Row 1: Fp dc around each of next 11 posts. Turn.

Rows 2-100: Ch1, dc in each of next 11 sts. Turn.

Join the strap to the other side of the bag with loose slip stitches or the flat zipper method (see part 6). (Use the opposite side of the bag as a guide to place it symmetrically).

Do not fasten off.

Row 1: dc in each of the next 11 sl sts. Turn.

Rows 2-100: Ch1, dc in each of next 11 sts. Turn.

Join the strap back to where you started using slip stitches to create a ‘double open strap’.

Do not fasten off.

Turn to work up one side of the double open strap. Working into both straps at the same time, dc evenly along the first edge to join them. Repeat for the other side. 

Fasten off.
